Bi lahko povedal kaj o trigliceridih? Prosim. Ne razumem najbolje. Berem, da jih je potrebno držati nizko, po drugi strani pa berem da je kokos odličen in da je poln srednjeverižnih trigliceridov. Zato ker nimam niti malo pojma o trigliceridih, prosim za kakšno kratko razlago, kaj sploh so, kak se delijo ipd. Hvala.

Sma že dva...ne bi se branili enga članka podrobno o maščobah nasploh...da bi bilo vse na enem mestu :)

trigliceridi predstavljajo večino zaužite maščobe in večino skladiščene maščobe.

razlika je med visoko ravnjo trigliceridov v krvi, ki je predvsem posledica pretiranega uživanja oh in trigliceridi v hrani..
v osnovi je tako da je večji odstotek trigliceridov v hrani obratno sorazmeren z tistim v krvi. (recimo na ketonski vedni v krvi močno padejo) in obratno več je oh itdd.. to pomeni da je nižja raven v krvi na tešče in hitreje se spuca iz krvi po obroku četudi jih je več v hrani.
seveda imaš vse možne kombinacije junk hrane kjer se situacija ni tako čista ampak v splošnem je tako.

No no, pozablja se oment, da do tvorbe TAG zarad OH pride zaradi prekomernega vnosa. Enako velja za prekomeren vnos maščob iz hrane. Prekomeren.

se ne dogaja. zelo povečan vnos maščob in trigliceridi na tešče ter še vedno padejo pod raven ki je normalna pri normalni prehrani. plus čiščenje trigliceridov po obroku iz krvi je zelo izboljšano.. ketomani imamo res ogromno maščob lahko in velik kalorični vnos pa je raven trigliceridov zelo nizka.

definitivno pa porast zavisi od količini oh. več oh več trigliceridov

Sm tok zmešan zarad izpitov, da sm prebrau da je govor o TAG v maščobnem tkivu. Šele zdej vidm, da je govor o TAG v krvi.

Lord Strathcona – the Donald Smith of Mount Sir Donald, Smith’s Landing, and countless towns and natural features throughout Canada – was not only one of the richest men in the British Empire, he was Canada’s High Commissioner in London in the late 19th and early 20th century. Vilhjalmur Stefansson, in his autobiography, Discovery, gives a detailed account of Lord Strathcona’s dietary habits which illustrate well how a re-stricted diet can be eminently healthy. After Stefansson had told Lord Strathcona what he had learned from the Eskimos, His Lordship told Stefansson that years ago in Canada he had begun a regimen all his own. He told how he had begun to wonder why, since he liked some things better than others, he should bother to eat something different on one day when he had liked what he had eaten the previous day better. ‘This led,’ re-counts Stefansson, ‘to his questioning what he really did like and, when he got the answer, eating nothing else – eggs, milk, and butter.’ Stefansson was frequently a guest at Lord Strathcona’s home in Grosvenor Square, and so had plenty of opportunity to observe him. He wrote: ‘Strathcona, a broad shouldered man taller than six feet, would be seated at one end of the long table, Lady Strathcona at the other. As course after course was served to the rest of us, he would converse, drinking a sip or two of each wine as it was poured. Sometime during the middle of the dinner, his tray was brought: several medium soft boiled eggs broken into a large bowl, with plenty of butter and with extra butter in a side dish, and, I believe, a quart of whole milk, or perhaps half and half.’
Lord Strathcona must have been doing something right because he lived entirely healthily to the ripe old age of 93.

Atkins hormone' discovered

They are loved and endorsed by celebrities and dismissed as an unhealthy diet craze by critics. But 'low carb', high protein and high fat diets have proven their metabolic worth: scientists in the US have discovered a fat-burning role for a specific hormone stimulated by these eating regimes. The work has also raised the intriguing question of whether the Atkins diet could make you live longer.

A group of researchers led by Steven Kliewer at Southwestern University in Dallas, Texas found that a growth hormone called fibroblast growth factor 21 (FGF21) stimulates fat metabolism in the liver.

Atkins Diet

At the same time, Eleftheria Maratos-Flier and her colleagues from Boston University found that a ketogenic diet, low in carbohydrates and relatively high in fat, stimulated the production of this hormone. Both studies are published simultaneously in Cell Metabolism.

'It was one of those serendipitous discoveries,' Kliewer told Chemistry World. 'We were studying receptors in the liver that are activated by fatty acids, and we found that the receptors, called PPARalpha, regulate the hormone FGF21, so we went on to study what FGF21 does.'

Kliewer's treated mice with FGF21, either by genetic modification or direct injection, and said that it made the animals look like they were starving. 'It turned on a starvation response, even when the animals were feeding. They switched from using carbohydrates to fat stores as an energy supply,' he said.

Maratos-Flier's group fed their mice a high fat, low carbohydrate diet for 30 days and found that levels of FGF21 increased.

This biochemical deception, causing the body to burn fat even when on a high fat diet, is a weight loss method made famous by Robert Atkins, who died in 2003. Such diets are called ketogenic because, without a source of carbohydrate to produce energy, fats or lipids are metabolised, producing ketones as a replacement fuel.

Starving to stay younger

Although previous work linked FGF21 to metabolism, Kliewer's work illustrates its fat burning function for the first time. 'This is one of the most exciting things I've ever worked on,' he said. 'Starvation and restricted diet are linked to some fascinating physiology including longevity. In the long term, I would like to investigate the role of FGF21 in ageing, since caloric restriction has been linked to an extended life span in many species.'

David Moore from Baylor College of Medicine in Houston, Texas described the link between calorie restriction and longevity as a 'tantalising' research area.

'When you starve an overweight body, you see many metabolic benefits, including increased fat metabolism, some of which could be mediated by FGF21,' Moore told Chemistry World. 'There was a study described at a conference recently, where a morbidly obese child undertook a medically supervised 300 day fast. He lost half his body weight and was reported to be physically fine.'

Moore pointed out that in all species tested so far, including worms, birds, rodents and dogs, restricting calorie intake leads to a longer life span (see Chemistry World, May 2007, p24). But a long term longevity study in humans is a huge practical challenge.

Eric Ravussin from Pennington Biomedical Research Center in Louisiana has pinpointed a number of biomarkers for ageing that he says could start to answer the question of whether a ketogenic diet or FGF21 increases life span. 'This type of diet or this hormone could provide a surrogate for calorie restriction,' he suggested.

The effect of dietary cholesterol intake on serum cholesterol level is known to vary among individuals. The homeostatic and regulatory mechanisms which tend to keep serum cholesterol constant operate at different levels of efficiency in different individuals. An extreme case is reported here. A physician and colleagues from the University of Colorado School of Medicine have studied an 88-year-old man who, for ill-defined psychological reasons, has consumed 20 to 30 eggs daily for at least 15 years. This individual has maintained normal serum lipid levels and has no history of clinically important heart disease. He consented to participate in a variety of tests of cholesterol metabolism; the findings were compared with those obtained in an ongoing study of 11 normal volunteers who were tested while consuming normal diets and diets supplemented with five eggs per day. It was found that this individual had extremely efficient mechanisms that compensated for his phenomenally high cholesterol intake. In particular, he absorbed only 18 % of the cholesterol that he consumed; the comparison subjects absorbed 54.6% when on low-cholesterol diets and 46.4% when on high-cholesterol diets. He also showed a doubling of the usual rate of conversion of cholesterol to bile acids, moderately reduced cholesterol synthesis, and a possible increase in biliary cholesterol secretion. "These physiologic adaptations would leave little if any of the dietary cholesterol to elevate plasma cholesterol levels and be deposited in arterial walls."

Pozitivni vplivi ketoze na možgane:

- reduction in free radical production
- enhanced ATP production in mitochondria
- increased number of mitochondria
- increased production of brain-derived neurotrophic factor (protein involved in myelination, ostensibly leads to increased capacity for creating/strengthening connections between neurons)
- reduction in apoptosis (cell suicide)
- activation of the "Nrf2" pathway, which leads to reduced brain inflammation, enhanced detoxification, and increased antioxidant protection
